This auction is for my 1970 Gibson Dove, serial # 618130. The guitar plays beautifully with a really great 'Gibson' tone and very low action. It is all original except upgraded tusk bridge pins. I've bought and sold many high end acoustic guitars on Ebay over the past twenty five years I describe my Ebay items very honestly and carefully so please read my full description. This Gibson Dove is well worn, well played but shows 6 or 7 top cracks with 4 of them being between 3-6 inches long and those have been cleated at some point and have held steady. The small ones caused by pickguard shrinkage have been stable and are not cleated. The top is nice and flat, no bridge bellying. The two piece maple back is in beautiful shape but had center seam separation and has been cleated and holds steady. There is one upper bout side ding/crack that is about an inch long. (OK, that's all the bad news!) The good news is this guitar plays beautifully with very low action on a nice ebony fretboard. The frets are all original and healthy, no string buzz throughout the neck. The 3 piece maple neck itself is in amazing shape, hardly any finish wear, no capo dings. The original Grover tuners work perfectly and hold tune nicely. The tone itself is pure Gibson, warm and dry with great sustain. This is no 'banjo killer' but it has that pure sweet acoustic sound I always look for in a vintage acoustic. The all original cherryburst finish has darkened nicely over the years and gives this Dove a beautiful vintage look. This guitar would be a great candidate for a skilled luthier to do a pro level repair on the top cracks, but I've played it for years 'as is' with no issues. I just love guitars that have that beat n' sweet vibe even more than the mint collectibles that have spent 30 years in a case. The pickguards on these Doves were hand painted and most of the green paint used on the leaves and flowers has faded or worn off but the dove still looks beautiful. I bought a new tweed hard case for shipping and I pack guitars super carefully and ship fully insured. Also, I posted a video on Youtube describing and demonstrating this guitar. To check it out please search: Michael Cuneo 1970 Gibson Dove.  It will give you a more complete idea on the sound, playability and condition. USA only please on this auction. This is my last vintage guitar, selling reluctantly but heck, the rent is due and the bills aren't going away on their own!  Shipping is $125. All reasonable questions will be answered. Thanks for looking!!
