  • Condition: Hand carved, unfinished wood. Has some chips in the pattern, not very noticeable.

    Description

    A carved wood plaque.  Its unfinished wood, so could be stained or painted as you desire.
    On the back it has a hole top middle so it can be hung from a nail, or you could attach to the front of a cabinet and stain all to match.  Just an idea I've been thinking about.
    Do not know the type of wood.
    Overall looks good, though close up you can see there are some small chips in the pattern on one wing, and there is a crack on the back but it doesn't go thru very far.  Hopefully I give you some good pictures to check it out.
    Overall 12" at the widest, 6" tall and looks to be 1" at its thickest.
    I did a bunch of searching online trying to identify who this was, and think I have it figured out correctly.  Sorry if I am wrong, but decided it is the Tibetan Buddist guardian Garuda.
    In Hindu religion, Garuda is a lesser Hindu divinity, usually the mount (vahanam) of Vishnu. Garuda is depicted as having the golden body of a strong man with a white face, red wings, and an eagle's beak and with a crown on his head.  Worship of Garuda is believed to remove the effects of poisons from one's body.
