    This day sale of contemporary art at Phillips de Pury & Luxembourg November 12, 2002 is highlighted by a very bright abstraction by Gerhard Richter (b. 1932), an excellent painting by Larry Rivers (1923-2002), a good sculpture by Frank Stella (b. 1936), a delightful sculpture by Nike de Saint Phalle (1930-2002), a strong portrait by Leon Golub (b. 1922), an interesting abstraction by Sigmar Polke (b. 1941), and a fine photograph by Vik Muniz (b. 1961).
    The Richter is Lot 115 and is entitled "Untitled (467-2). An oil on canvas, it measurs 25 5/8 by 31 1/2 inches. Executed in 1981, it has a modest estimate of 0,000 to 0,000 and is particularly vibrant and colorful with a fine sense of motion and depth.
    Larry Rivers, who died this year, is represented by Lot 128, "French Money," a 34-by-59 1/2-inch oil on canvas, Executed in 1965, it has a modest estimate of 0,000 to 0,000 and is a an excellent example of the artist's fine compositional skills and painterliness.
